What was your role and involvement with Pioneers of Change?
Co-founder
What has your journey been since your time with Pioneers of Change?
After setting up PoC in Brazil, and a brief stay in Denmark (working in Sweden) I moved back to South Africa in 2000, and started working for GIBS, the university of Pretoria's business school - where I stayed for 7 years and set up the Centre for Leadership and Dialogue. I am still part-time faculty at GIBS. In 2007, I left GIBS to co-found Reos Partners, where I still work as a Director.
What values, lessons, or experiences from Pioneers of Change have stayed with you?
The commitments for sure, the processes of bringing people together around purpose, innovation, organising, writing, creating new narratives. The incredible network of mentors and peers around the world. The power of conversations that matter, and what emerges from those conversations (organisations, big life moves, alliances etc).
What advice would you give to today’s young changemakers as they navigate their own paths?
Stay curious, follow your passion for social impact, just start even if the idea isn't fully formed yet, don't underestimate the power of relationships across time and space. Just take it one conversation at a time, and it will almost always lead to some shift or movement in the direction you need to go next.
