What was your role and involvement with Pioneers of Change?

I was one of the founders and a global facilitator/ cultivation unit member for 5 years.

What has your journey been since your time with Pioneers of Change?

I co-founded Reos Partners with four other Pioneers of Change and 3 additional partners, who I would not have met if it wasn’t for PoC so the network was defining in my further journey and my current company, Reos, would not exist in this form if it wasn’t for PoC. After setting up Reos first while living in South Africa I moved to Brazil and set up the office there together with another pioneer Christel Scholten.

What values, lessons, or experiences from Pioneers of Change have stayed with you?

So many! I have taken the five principles with me wherever I have gone and continue to turn to my PoC network to make sense of challenges I face along my journey. The importance of seeing each other’s humanity and having each other’s backs even when we sometimes encounter failures or make mistakes. Staying in the long game grounded in deep commitment while open to changing perspectives. That wisdom and solutions are available all over the world. That we are part of the very same systems we are trying to change and that we have to keep working with that ambiguity and humble awareness.

What advice would you give to today’s young changemakers as they navigate their own paths?

Build deep relationships, quality is more important than quantity (eg number of connections and followers on SoMe); try to engage in co-creative partnerships across generations; allow yourself the freedom to experiment while young - find your professional practice “playgrounds”, that’s part of what PoC was for us; find your contribution within the larger whole - don’t “jam spread” yourself across all issues. Trust that others will do their part and stay connected.
